Head Coach

Ms. Jaime Watson
Jaime Watson joined the Sheyenne Track and Field program in 2017 as their 3rd head girls track coach in school history. The school’s varsity program started in 2015. That first year, Watson worked primarily with the 400- and 800-meter athletes. With the hire of a new Boys Head Coach in 2018, they decided to take a step back from event-specific coaching every day and focus on coaching the whole team. Each year, the girls' team continues to shatter school records and score more points at big meets.
Prior to Sheyenne High, Watson began her coaching career in the fall of 2008 at Bishop Ryan High School in Minot, ND. That year, Watson led the girls' cross country team to a 2nd place finish at the State XC Meet - where she had 3 All-State Athletes. In 2011, Watson moved to North Carolina and began her teaching career at Pine Forest High School. In 2012, she was named the Girls Head Coach where she coached the female sprinters. Watson started her Masters in Mathematics in the fall of 2012 and took the next two seasons off coaching to focus on her studies. In 2015, she took over the boys and girls distance program. That year, she had three girls under 1:00 in the 400 and two boys under 2:00 in the 800. The boys 4x800 and girls 4x400 qualified for the national track and field meet.
Watson graduated with her BS in Mathematics Education from Minot State University. While attending Minot State, Watson ran cross country and track and field for the Beavers. She was part of the National Qualifying Cross Country team in 2003 and 2004. In 2015, Watson graduated with her MS in Mathematics from Fayetteville State University. Watson is currently working on her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. She just finished up all of her course work and will begin her dissertation this year. Her topic is, “why representation matters in coaching, focusing on the importance of female head coaches in female athletics.”
Watson started the North Dakota Chapter for Women4Women in January of 2023 and is so excited to see what this brings to her state and the connections that will be made in ND and with MN and WI.
Watson currently works at Prime46 as a Research Analyst in Fargo, ND.
