Head Coach Huanzhong (Dan) Gu

Coach Gu brings extensive experience and deep connections within the Metro Area tennis community to the Sheyenne High School Girls Tennis Team. As a Sheyenne parent with two daughters who have participated in the program, he has built strong relationships with players, parents, and fellow coaches, giving him valuable insight into the team’s history, culture, and continued success.

In the 2025 season, Coach Gu led teams to exceptional achievements, including Boys EDC and State Team Championships with an undefeated season, a Girls EDC Team Championship, and Boys and Girls Singles State Championships. These accomplishments reflect his emphasis on fundamentals, competitive preparation, and long-term player development.

Outside of tennis, Coach Gu is a senior software developer in the Psychology Department at North Dakota State University, where he designs and manages software systems that support cutting-edge research across multiple areas of psychology.

With a passion for developing both athletes and people, and a clear vision for sustained excellence, Coach Gu is committed to fostering a competitive, supportive, and growth-oriented environment that allows every player to reach their full potential.
